McDonald’s marks 30th year with re-opening of four Anniversary Stores

THE PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 30, 2011: You know a quick service restaurant when you see it: bright colors and plastic everywhere. That is changing today as McDonald’s Philippines celebrates its 30th year, simultaneously re-opening its Anniversary Stores: McDonald’s Makati Cinema Square, Greenhills, North Avenue, and Quezon Avenue.

“When the first McDonald’s was built in Morayta in 1981, Filipinos flocked to the store and just kept coming back,” said Margot Torres, McDonald’s Philippines Vice President for Marketing. “Thirty years later, McDonald’s has grown together with its customers and to reinforce our commitment to our customers we will continue to provide value for money quality products, innovative service, and of course the best restaurant environment—seen with our new store designs.”

Each of the four McDonald’s Anniversary Stores adapts a different design concept seen in other McDonald’s stores all over the world. Comfortable, spacious dining areas, complemented with splashes of colors, dynamic graphics, and architectural accents, the sleek new store designs reflect not only changing lifestyle of Filipinos, but mirror the diversity of its customers who visit the store. Other unique design elements include the signature red blade and white ribbon at the store’s exterior, reflective of McDonald’s commitment to serving the community.

Each store’s interior design is unique to suit the community that the store serves. The McDonald’s Makati Cinema Square, close to the sound houses the ad industry patronizes, bears a design of savvy graphics set against a neutral and timeless color, giving a relaxing a homey feel. Fun and play best describes the design of McDonald’s Greenhills. McDonald’s Quezon Avenue, bears a design based on a neutral color palette, accentuated with a range of graphic overlays that provides a café ambiance—warm and comfortable. In the same way, McDonald’s North Avenue features the same design elements as McDonald’s Quezon Avenue with an urban edge.

The re-openings serve as a testament to McDonald’s pioneering spirit. From heartwarming and memorable commercials that reflect important values of the Filipino society like “Kitakits” or “Simbang Gabi”, food innovations like Burger McDo and McSpaghetti that cater to the unique Filipino taste, to introducing Dessert Center and McCafe, all these serve as a reinforcement of McDonald’s commitment to giving Filipinos only the best that they deserve.

“As we celebrate our 30th year, we are excited for the next 30, 60, 90 years. Re-opening these four stores with new, modern designs is only the beginning,” said Torres. “We want to give our customers more and more reasons to visit McDonald’s and give them a restaurant experience they can enjoy only at McDonald’s."
