GLOBAL – JUNE 8, 2011 –The inaugural Effie Effectiveness Index rankings in association with Warc, the global marketing intelligence service, presents the index of the most effective companies and brands globally and regionally. The index will be revealed in Cannes, France on June 23, 2011 to coincide with the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

This was announced at the 43rd annual Effie Awards Ceremony in New York on June 7, where Global Effie Awards were presented to Snickers, IBM and 5 Gum. The North American Grand Effie Award (best in show) was presented to Procter & Gamble’s Old Spice and Wieden+Kennedy for “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like.”

The Global Effies honor marketing communications initiatives that have proven their effectiveness in multiple markets worldwide. A Gold Global Effie was awarded to AMV BBDO/UK and BBDO New York for You’re Not You When You’re Hungry for Snickers (Mars Ltd.). The Global Effie winners will be a part of the Effectiveness Index, which will identify and rank the marketing communications industry’s most effective agencies, advertisers, and brands by analyzing finalist and winner data from Effie’s 40+ Worldwide competitions.

“Effie has been synonymous with marketing effectiveness since 1968,” said Mary Lee Keane, President of Effie Worldwide. “Together Effie and Warc have created the Effie Effectiveness Index, which will be the ultimate benchmark in recognizing the architects of marketing communications effectiveness globally and locally.”

“In the current environment, effectiveness and ROI are more important than ever. We, along with Effie Worldwide believe that the index will become an essential tool for agencies and advertisers alike," said Rufus Olins, CEO of Warc.
