Local photo enthusiasts’ works to reach region-wide exhibit

THE PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 21, 2012: The three photos of Filipino photography enthusiasts will represent the country in the Epson Color Imaging Contest (CIC), a region-wide photo exhibit including Indonesia, India, and Taiwan, to be held at Taipei in March.

The Epson CIC, an international event for photographers to showcase their work, unveiled the local winners last February 17 at SM North EDSA Annex. Themed "Beautiful Philippines," the contest invited local photography enthusiasts to submit photos promoting the different wonders of the Philippines. This year’s contest also saw the integration of social media wherein contestants submitted their entries via Facebook.

The photos featured different sceneries in the Philippines. The 1st place photo "Light Unseen," which was shot by Randall Cipriano, was taken at the Triboa Bay Mangrove Park, Subic Bay using a 720 nanometer wavelength filter that cuts off a lot of visible light but captures infrared light. Second prize was awarded to Clavo de Comer’s "Fishermen" while third prize went to Luisito G. Cleofas’ "Majestic Mayon Volcano."

“With the theme “Beautiful Philippines”, our local photographers were able to skillfully show the distinct beauty and culture of the country. We are excited to present the winning entries alongside the world’s most beautiful representations of their own countries and culture,” said Donna V. Ferro, EPC general manager for Marcom & Customer Support.
The photos are available for public viewing at the SM North EDSA Annex from February 17 to 23.
