Lim-Higgins, better know as Slim, opened Slim’s Fashion and Arts School in 1960, to “pass on the lessons she learned and the fashion tricks she devised for herself.”   A number of the country’s top fashion designers are products of Slim’s: Pepito Albert, Cesar Gaupo, Lulu Tan-Gan, and Oskar Peralta, to name a few.

The retrospective exhibit also marked the launch of the coffee table book (of the same title as the exhibit), as well as to celebrate the design institution’s 50th anniversary in 2010.  Glossy publications Town & Country and Preview were the hosts of the gala event.

Salvacion Lim-Higgins had celebrities, society ladies and politicians’ wives on her list of clients during her heyday.  The presence of special friends and guests at the gala was a fitting tribute to one of the Philippines’ most prolific fashion design artists of the century.
