Erik Matti revives Filipino folklore with ‘Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles’

THE PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 5, 2012 – Director Erik Matti (Gagamboy, Pa-Siyan, Exodus) makes a return to the horror genre with the upcoming “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles”.

The movie brings to life the story of the mythical tiktik of Filipino folklore – horrific, man-eating creatures with a taste for fetuses that are still in the womb.  In the movie, Matti depicts a human family fighting against an entire village of the monsters.

Unlike his other movies, Matti, who is also a freelance advertising director, the film was shot entirely on a green screen studio. And to bring his, and his partners’, vision of a vividly gloomy world of local folklore to the big screen, they launched their own post production house.

The film is slated for an October 17, 2012 release and stars Dingdong Dantes, Lovi Poe, Joey Marques, Roi Vinzon, Ramon Bautista, and LJ Reyes.
