Journalists in the line of fire in BBDO Guerrero campaign for the NUJP

PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 2011 – On the first year anniversary of the Maguindanao massacre of 32 media workers, Frank La Rue, UN special rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, called the Philippines “the most dangerous place in the world for journalists”. More than a year after the gruesome killings, the Philippines is still notorious for the killings of media practitioners.

BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines worked with the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) to create a poster, “Camera Gun”.  The same piece is also being made available to print media organizations that support the cause.

With the trial still in progress a year after the crime had been committed, eclipsed by many other scandals and issues, the campaign aims to remind Filipinos of the pressing need to deliver justice for journalists.
