Netizens back up banned Panasonic TV ad

ASIA-PACIFIC – JAPAN, JULY 12, 2013 – Internet users who have seen the Panasonic Smart VIERA ad have lashed back at private broadcasters for pushing the ban, saying terrestrial broadcasting is finished for failing to keep up with the trend.

Earlier, Panasonic released a 30-seconder featuring a voice-activated Smart TV with face-recognition and a touchpad-navigated remote. Part of its offering allows the users to consumer on-demand services like Youtube and internet browsing simultaneously.

Private networks have refused to promote the technology for fear that it will hit live broadcasting, with the split-screen confusing the viewers.

However, the audiences they are trying to protect seem to be backing up the other side. One user commented: "That’s obviouslycode for…We don’t know how to charges fees for this service yet. As usual, NHK, the government and other companies treating the public like idiots."
