adobo Magazine Women’s Issue out now

THE PHILIPPINES, MARCH 2012: In celebration of International Women’s Month, adobo toasts the industry’s other half—the women of advertising and marketing—in a special Women’s Issue. The newest edition is a 152-page showcase not just of women achievers, but also of trends and issue that concern the fairer sex.

On the cover is Merlee Jayme, a woman who cemented her place in Philippine advertising’s history when she co-founded her own agency, DM9 JaymeSyfu. With a string of awards and jury head duties at this year’s Asia Pacific AdFest and Cannes, Jayme is part of the rare breed of female creative heads in the region. She talks about the men behind her success and her double role as a mother.
 
In a special Trendspotting spread, we define the word ‘diva’ by featuring eight of the country’s biggest influencers in advertising and media. It leads up to nine profiles of adobo’s picks of inspiring Filipinas in the industry.
 
The other sections also celebrate women inspirations. For the Design section, Lenora Cabili of clothing brand Filip+Inna shows how she uplifts both design and culture in her work. For adobo exhibit, we feature Leeroy New, whose otherwordly creations have often uses women as the canvas. Issues concerning females are also put to light: Roundtable discusses women stereotypes in advertising, the Intelligence section talks about a rising trend dubbed as “marriage optional”, while the Media section shows how women’s magazines are making larger impact outside the print medium. Agency heads for strategy also dish out on where their agencies stand in the issue of women’s imagery.
 
The edition will keep you abreast with top news, headlined by Havas Media’s steady expansion in the country, top-level movements in local agencies such as Jos Ortega’s departure from JWT Manila, Randy Aquino’s new role as Ogilvy & Mather Philippines vice chairman, and  Hermie de Leon’s shift from OMG to Havas’ MPG.
