Ivan Yuen joins Grey Beijing as Managing Director

Nirvik Singh, Grey Group Asia Pacific’s Chairman and CEO, has announced that Ivan Yuen joins Grey Beijing as Managing Director starting July 1, following the resignation of Tammy Sheu, who will be pursuing new challenges outside of the network.

“Sheu has successfully created a solid foundation for the Beijing operations and accelerated its performance and growth. We sincerely thank her for her dedication and contributions. I believe that Yuen, with his track record of building teams and businesses, will continue to provide superior client service and take Grey Beijing’s capabilities to the next level,” Singh said.

Yuen comes with 20 years of experience in communications. Starting in Hong Kong as an Account Executive and Chinese Copywriter in a PR firm, he switched to advertising in 1990 with J. Walter Thompson. Since then, he has worked at Lintas, DMB&B, Bozell as well as Grey in Hong Kong, where he was Account Director on British American Tobacco.

His China venture commenced in 2000 when he moved to Saatchi & Saatchi Guangzhou, as Group Account Director on local clients in diverse categories including white goods, confectionery, beer, hotel and pharmaceuticals. Subsequently, he was transferred to Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai as Director of Client Services and Deputy General Manager. In his three-year term, Yuen built and groomed a team which handled clients like Johnson & Johnson, Lion Nathan, Danone, General Mills, China Merchants Bank and St. Regis Hotel, and in the process tripled the agency’s revenue.

After a short deviation back to Hong Kong on the client side, Yuen returned to China in 2005 as General Manager of DDB Shanghai to spearhead new business acquisition and steward key accounts such as Philips, Porsche, Air France and Star Alliance. In 2007, Yuen was recruited to lead the Intel business at McCann Erickson Beijing, as Senior Vice President and Demand Team Leader of over 40 members.
