GLOBAL – JUNE 2011 – They’re famous Filipinos who love to sing. And now, they’re selling tech products in commercials. Manny Pacquiao, the world’s top boxer, and Fil-Canadian sensation Maria Aragon now have more than a YouTube connection and positive attitudes in common; they also have new TV spots for global gadget makers HP and HTC.
The second installment of Pacquiao’s HP endorsements started airing in the US last week. The Touchpad ad is more convincing than the viral first commercial for the mobile phone Veer. It also shows two other facets of the fighter: as congressman and as recording artist.

Maria Aragon, discovered on the video site for her rendition of Lady Gaga’s "Born This Way", sings K’naan’s "Wavin’ Flag" in the "You are the next…" ad for HTC Sensation 4G, which also features Surfrider Foundation, street artist Joshua Roman and Bamboo Bike Studio. A full version of Aragon’s commercial shoot is also online. The 10 year old’s fans have flocked to the HTC YouTube channel just to see her sing, with 159 "thumbs up" to altorstenlinton2’s comment "How many of you search or look for this ad just to see/hear the lil girl at the end of this ad?" and 145 to LawlableLexi’s comment "i just came to see maria :)".
