Director Brillante Mendoza won Muhr AsiaAfrica Best Feature Film for “Lola” at the recently concluded 6th Dubai International Film Festival.
This is Mendoza’s first award for “Lola”. The film made its debut at the Venice Film Festival last September.

Starring veteran actresses Anita Linda and Rustica Carpio, “Lola” (Grandmother) follows the plight of two grandmothers who are coping with their grandsons’ deaths.
Earlier this year, Mendoza was awarded Best Director for his film “Kinatay” at the Cannes International Film Festival.
The Dubai International Film Festival gave out a total of 28 awards for jury general excellence and excellence in acting, cinematography, editing, music and scriptwriting. The awards were divided into two groups, Muhr AsiaAfrica and Muhr Arab.
The festival received entries from more than 62 nations across Asia, Africa, the Americas, Australia and Europe in three categories namely documentaries, short films and feature films.
