adobo Design Awards deadline extended – entries close April 10

MANILA, APRIL 3, 2013 – adobo Magazine, the premier publication on advertising in the Philippines, has announced a deadline extension for the submission of entries to the 4th adobo Design Awards. Due to popular demand, all parties involved in the use of design for advertising purposes—agencies, professionals, students, enthusiasts and freelancers—can submit their entries until April 10 (Wednesday), for the final chance to join the 2013 competition organized by the Word on Creativity.

Honoring designs for a purpose, entrants in the Professional category may submit their most brilliant pieces released commercially between February 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013.

Open to Philippine or foreign-based companies or practitioners, the Professional category cuts across 13 formats including press & poster, corporate brand identity, typography, publishing, digital/interactive, production design, environmental/spatial design, packaging, product design, broadcast animation/music video, outdoor/ambient, t-shirt design and illustration/applied graphics. Entries should indicate either a commercial purpose or advocacy.

The Open/Theme category calls on students, freelancers and professionals to send in creative pitches (in poster or video formats) promoting the imagery of "Manila’s Pop Culture", for the purpose of defining its identity to internal and external audiences.

Entries will be reviewed and awarded by a panel of industry experts headed by Thomas Yang, DDB Singapore deputy executive creative director, with AJ Dimarucot (graphic designer), Brian Tenorio (Design for Development), Jois Tai and Rex Advincula (Inksurge), Aram Beheshti (Graphika Manila), Eneri Abillar (Vapor Studios Asia), Jowee Alviar and Mon Punzalan (Team Manila), Budjette Tan (MRM Worldwide), Jose Maria Yupangco (De La Salle – College of St Benilde), Merlee Jayme (DM9JaymeSyfu), Pedring Lopez (Welovepost), Denise Tee (Ace Saatchi & Saatchi), Gary Amante (BBDO Guerrero) and Dan Matutina (Twisted Fork).

Winning work will be awarded Bronze, Silver, Gold and Best in Show on April 26 at the Ayala Museum.

The 4th adobo Design Awards is presented by adobo Magazine in cooperation with event partners MyPhone and Havaianas, and sponsors Executive Decisions, Pinwheel, 25th Media, Central Digital Lab, Robert Mondavi Wines, Manila Beer, Tanduay Black, Ayala Museum, Aubergine Restaurant, Isla Lipana PWC and media partners, Business Mirror, Philippine Daily Inquirer and the Philippine Star.
