The Asian Multimedia and Book Publishing Award winners were revealed on the last night of the recent Asian Publishing Convention, held last July 16-17 at the Manila Mandarin.
Winners from Taiwan and India dominated the categories, showing they were the ones to beat in the world of the printed word. The Philippines won one category in the Asian Book Publishing Awards, for Ayala Corporations Ayala: Celebrating 175 Years.
To its credit, there two Philippine entries that received Excellence awards in the same competition: Bank of the Philippine Islands’ Herencia: A Legacy of Art and Progress (of which our very own Cid Reyes was one of the authors) and Benpres Holdings Corporation’s “LopezLink” newsletter and online.
The Asian Publishing Convention, which hosts the awards show, boasted a healthy number of registered attendees, despite the AH1N1 flu scare. Organizers revealed that more than 230 delegates came to the Manila Mandarin, 80 of them flying in from around the region.
With an impressive lineup of resource speakers, the APC established itself as the conference that brings “Worldwide Publishing Management Thinking and Expertise” to multi media publishing managers in Asia.
Many of the chief executives of the country’s multi-media and publishing networks were seen milling on the trade exhibit floor, including ABS-CBN Publishing’s Ernie Lopez and Summit Publishing’s Liza Gokongwei.
