SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Creative company Entropico has officially signed Mateo Mejia, marking a major career milestone for the rising talent and experimental filmmaker. Known for his unique blend of handheld realism, cinematic world building and AI driven storytelling, Mejia joins Entropico as his first ever signing to a creative and production house – a strategic move that underscores both parties’ commitment to innovation in storytelling.
Celebrated for his short form cinematic works that straddle fiction, documentary and digital experimentation, Mejia represents a new wave of hybrid creators redefining the language of film. His signing signals Entropico’s investment in the future of generative video and its evolving role in contemporary visual culture.

A self taught filmmaker, Mejia honed his distinctive voice by embracing a DIY approach – working with iPhones, pocket cameras, CRT monitors and later, high end cinema rigs. His style walks a tightrope between tactile realism and digital dreamscapes, producing visually arresting shorts often described as “trailers for movies that don’t exist.” Drawing on the grammar of classic cinema and the fast cut rhythms of internet culture, Mejia distills mood, character and narrative into compact vignettes. His viral works, including an 8.1M view experimental reel and a digital book project with over 5M views, frequently elicit the question: “Where can I watch the full version?” a testament to the worlds he’s able to build in under two minutes.
“Creating timeless work that audiences will reference for years to come, alongside other talented artists, is the whole reason I got into this to begin with,” Mejia shares. “With Entropico, I’m excited for the chance to explore new ways to merge entertainment with the fast-paced evolution of technology.
For Entropico, his signing represents a bold investment in the future of experimental filmmaking. “Mateo embodies everything we look for in a director at Entropico – restless creativity, a distinct point of view, and a fearless curiosity about where technology can take storytelling,” says Joey Hunter, CCO at Entropico. “He’s proof that you don’t need a massive studio system to create cultural impact. You need vision, taste, and the courage to experiment. We’re thrilled to be his first creative and production home, and can’t wait to see where his energy and hybrid filmmaking style take him.”
