Manila hosts 7th Asian Publishing Awards

MANILA, JULY 15, 2013- Manila played host to the 7th Asian Publishing Awards, which saw victory for ABS-CBN Publishing including three Golds for published work on three of its luxury titles.

The wins were for Best Feature in Cars for Vault Magazine’s “Keeping Pace with the Classics”, Best Feature on Wine-Tasting for  “Filipino Roots” and Best Insights into Asian Societies (non-fiction) for  “Juan Ponce Enrile, A memoir” story.

After the two-days of intensive Plenary and Bootcamp Sessions, the delegates and the experts from around the world gathered for the concluding ceremony of the Asian Publishing Convention. More Golds were given away on Friday night including Best Cover Design for Asean Geographic Magazine’s “Disease & Decay”, Best Use of Typography for Magazine Integrated’s “Fairytale Feasts”, Best Illustration and Best Photo Documentary for Fah Thai Magazine.

Best Feature on Asian Fashion was awarded to Females Brides “Female Brides LookBook 5”, while Expat Living Publication’s Ex Magazine snagged Best Feature on Asian Travel.

Magazine Integrated’s “Pets – A Night Out with Stray Feeders” triumphed as Best Feature on Pets. Caixin Media’s “China Economics & Finance” took Best Use of Design, Layout and Presentation. C! Magazine Group’s “Another Country Not My Own – Calibre” won the Gold for Best Feature on Timepieces, while Best Multimedia Integration to Engage Audiences was given to Business Weekly Group‘s “Global Battle of Taiwan Brother Black”.

Cathay Pacific and Bauer Media Hong Kong brought home a trophy for “Digital Discovery” in Content Development. John Wiley & Sons Singapore –collects Gold for The Party Line How The Media Dictates” for being the Best Book on the Media Industry in Asia. Commonwealth Publishing Group earns one for “2013 Festivals and Holidays Special” under the Best Multimedia Campaign by Corporate Advertiser.

The Gold for Best Innovative Corporate Communications was awarded to Business Weekly Group for “Amazing Night Steve Jobs and Innovation”.

The man of the hour was Kompas Daily Jakarta’s retired editor-in-chief  Jakob Oetema, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a respected journalist in Indonesia and is regarded as a model of professional integrity and generosity of spirit. He still maintains a daily column in Kompas.
