Y&R Philippines helps Maynilad Water drum its way to Guinness World Record

PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 11, 2011 – Y&R Philippines has helped Maynilad Water Services, Inc make world history by organizing and conceptualizing a new Guinness World Record, which was set at the company’s 2011 Customer Service Rally.

In front of more than 2,000 guests, 1,874 Maynilad employees rocked the SMX Convention Center in Manila using water pipes to play out a rhythm of beats, which earned them the record of “Largest Pipe Drum Ensemble”. London-based Guinness World Records adjudicator Kimberley Dennis witnessed the event.

According to Chris Lichauco, Head of Business Operations for Maynilad, the Guinness record set was symbolic of how everyone’s participation, hard work, and dedication are key in achieving a common goal.

Mary Buenaventura, Chief Operating Officer, Y&R Philippines said, “We wanted to create an event which would demonstrate Maynilad employees’ commitment to working together to deliver excellent service and what better way than to come up with an event which actually uses the very pipes which deliver clean, safe water every day to people across the Philippines.”
