MANILA, MARCH 4, 2013 – The Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company has issued a rebuttal to interconnection complaints made public by Globe. According to PLDT, Globe engineers had admitted that the firm’s "fiber optic transmission backbone in Metro Manila" was problematic.
The word war continues as Globe reiterates that the interconnection problems in North Luzon were caused by faulty signaling links of PLDT and not by a fiber cut.
“Here they go again. This is a classic PLDT, refusing to admit that there is something wrong with their network. More than this, there are several inaccuracies in their statement,” said Yoly Crisanto, head of corporate communications of Globe Telecom.
She added: “By design, the network is protected by redundancies to support subscribers during these times and minimize any adverse impact.” According to Globe, the fiber was restored on the morning of February 28. However, Globe adds that the fiber cut in San Juan was an intentional one and not by accident.
In the statement from PLDT, spokesperson Ramon Isberto said: “It was uncalled for in the first place for Globe to have issued on Tuesday a ‘public advisory’ blaming PLDT for its network woes. It was also presumptuous of them to speak on PLDT’s behalf regarding the status of our facilities."
