Lürzer’s Archive promotes Michael Weinzettl and Sandra Lehnst

GLOBAL, SEPTEMBER 2011: Michael Weinzettl has been appointed publisher of Lürzer’s Archive, and Sandra Lehnst the company’s new CEO, effective immediately.

Michael Weinzettl’s first contact with the then barely three-year-old Lürzer’s Archive in Frankfurt/Main, Germany was back in 1987. Having majored in American and German Cultural Studies at the University of Frankfurt, Weinzettl had just begun his training as a copywriter at the Lowe, Lürzer agency run by the magazine’s founder Walter Lürzer.

Weinzettl joined the budding magazine’s staff of two and became the title’s editor-in-chief after a few years, overseeing the publication’s subsequent success story and expansion during the next two decades. Through the years, he has also been a juror at a number of advertising awards throughout Europe, among them D&AD, Epica, and Golden Drum.

In his new position, Weinzettl continues to be in charge of all content and will divide his time between Berlin and Vienna.

Sandra Lehnst, the company’s new CEO, has been working for Lürzer’s Archive as Marketing Sales Manager since 2000. As Managing Director, she has already been coordinating the editorial as well as the production and sales departments for several years before being appointed CEO by the company’s trust governing the late Walter Lürzer’s estate.

Lehnst’s international academic background, which includes study semesters spent in Japan and course of studies in Economics with a focus on the Japanese and East Asian economies, together with her fluency in English, Japanese, Spanish and French, helped to accelerate the expansion of Archive magazine from the very start.

The first decision taken by the new team was to award Fernanda Romano the job of relaunching the Lürzer’s Archive website. Romano, who hails from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was Global Creative Director on Digital and Experiential Campaigns with Euro RSCG, Paris and, prior to that, Director of Other Medias and Special Projects at DM9 DDB, Sao Paulo (a time during which she scooped no less than nine Cannes Lions).

Also, the next few weeks will see the launch of the Lürzer’s Archive app – developed by Mind Treat Studios – for the iPhone and iPad which will give subscribers to Lürzer’s Archive Online mobile access to all the ads and commercials published in Archive over the past quarter of a century.
