NEW YORK FESTIVALS 2009

The New York Festivals 2009 International Advertising Awards officially opened its Call for Entries yesterday, Oct. 29th.

Now in its 51st year, the NYF recognizes work in all media:  TV, cinema, print, out-door, interactive, design, mixed media, collateral, radio and student advertising. The competition boomed in 2008, with a 23% rise in number of entries submitted; entries came from 71 countries.

Unlike other competitions, the NYF is judged online. “For me, it’s better to have judging online because there are too many factors that can influence human beings when they gather to decide on something.  The dynamics are too complex, and the risk is to lose track of the pure value of an idea.  I strongly believe it is better when you are judging on your own computer, dealing with your own judgment, and without any influence.  This is an important quality an award show should have”, said Marco Cremona, Creative Director of Young & Rubicam in Milan, and President of the Art Club of Italy.
