HBO Asia premieres first original series

ASIA-PACIFIC, September 23, 2013 – The ultra-modern Singapore gets a darker, moodier look in Serangoon Road, the new show by HBO Asia which premiered Sunday night as the network’s first original series.

A ten-episode series of the noir persuasion, Serangoon Road follows the life of ex-military man Sam Callaghan (played by Australian actor Don Hany) as he joins the detective agency of his neighbor Patricia Cheng (played by Chinese actress Joan Chen) after her husband is killed while working on a case.

Set in the 1960s, the story unfolds in a Singapore newly-independent from British and Malaysian rule, and plagued by political and racial tension.

Other cast members include Chinese actor Chin Han, Singaporean actor Alaric Tay, Singaporean actress Pamelyn Chee, Australian actress Maeve Dermody, and New Zealand actor Michael Dorman.

The series was created by Paul Barron and directed by Peter Andrikidis and Tony Tilse.

Serangoon Road airs every Sunday at 9 pm on HBO and HBO HD.
