Pepsi Philippines hires energy industry veteran as new chair

THE PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 23, 2012: In a press statement released on Tuesday, Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc. announced the appointment of Oscar Reyes, presently a member of the PCPPI’s board and COO of Manila Electric Company (Meralco), as its new chairman, following a management revamp. Yeon-Suk No, a veteran of South Korea’s Lotte Group, on the other hand, comes in as chief executive officer. Reyes and No take over the posts held previously by Hwang Chung.
In the same press release, PCPPI said Reyes and No can make the company “more responsive to new challenges in the economic climate both here and abroad.” Byoung Tak Hur and Choong Ik Lee assumes board member positions that the two new appointees vacated.
Aside from his posts in the PCCPI board and Meralco, Reyes also holds positions in the boards of other major Philippine companies like Philippine Long Distance Tel. Co. (PLDT), Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), and Manila Water Company. He was also the previous country chairman of Shell Companies Philippines.
PCPPI operates 11 bottling plants in the Philippines, manufacturing and selling global brands Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, Seven Up, Mirinda, Mug Root Beer, Gatorade, Propel, Lipton Iced Tea, Tropicana, Premier (bottled water), and Milkis (milk).
