MANILA, PHILIPPINES — AirAsia Philippines is setting its sights on Cebu as a strategic hub for growth, announcing the reopening of three domestic and two international routes from the Queen City of the South. Beginning 3rd September 2025, travelers may book flights from Mactan Cebu International Airport to Iloilo (ILO), Caticlan (MPH), Davao (DVO), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), and Macau (MFM) via the AirAsia MOVE app or airasia.com. Flights are scheduled to commence on 15 November 2025, utilizing the airline’s Airbus A320 fleet.
The expansion comes as Cebu strengthens its position as a vital gateway to Central Visayas, with the Department of Tourism Region 7 recording 5.1 million tourist arrivals in 2024. AirAsia Philippines aims to capitalize on this robust demand, reinforcing Cebu’s role as a critical driver of domestic and international connectivity.
“Cebu remains a major driver in realizing our growth story in the Philippines. We recognize the value of this very important route, connecting via Cebu to key domestic and international leisure markets. We look forward to further broadening opportunities in the tourism sector, helping generate jobs and ultimately contributing to inclusive economic growth. This initiative also allowed us to welcome new allstar pilots, cabin crew and ramp agents who will augment the manpower requirements,” said AirAsia Philippines President & Chief Executive Officer Suresh Bangah.
The airline’s Flight Operations Department has already opened its doors to hundreds of applicants, adding to its roster of skilled aviation professionals committed to delivering safety-first and service-driven travel experiences.
The timing of Cebu’s relaunch aligns perfectly with the onset of the “ber” months, traditionally considered the peak travel season in the Philippines. With holiday planning in full swing, AirAsia is positioning itself to capture a surge in demand by offering competitive fares and promotional sales for its guests.
