2nd IAA-Dentsu Global Student Poster Competition launched in support of the United Nations’ action on biodiversity

New York – The International Advertising Association (IAA) recently launched the 2nd annual IAA-Dentsu Global Student Poster competition to focus on the critical impact of environmental issues.   This year’s theme is biodiversity.  Student teams will be tasked with designing a poster-creating citizen, plus consumer awareness on biodiversity.

The global student poster competition is launched in support of the United Nations action on climate change, and is made possible by a donation from Dentsu Inc.

Officially launched in mid-November, the competition is open to students of advertising and marketing communications, and design.  All entries will undergo regional judging in Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Middle East & Africa and US/Canada, later subject to global judging.  Shortlisted entries will be announced in May 2010. The awards ceremony will be held in June 2010.

“The brief to the student teams is simple yet challenging.  The posters need to raise awareness of the impact of biodiversity, especially among peer groups and most importantly, motivate people to take action by bringing conservation-friendly initiatives into their lives and workplaces” stated IAA’s Chairman and World President Indra Abidin.

According to Kiyo Akasaka, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, “The UN has designated 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity to raise awareness of this important issue. Young people are critical to making a difference. We need their energy, their creativity and their passion.”

“Dentsu has always strived to be a responsible member of society, and has therefore decided to take part in this initiative like we did last year. We look forward to seeing great creative ideas from the younger generation from around the globe” commented Tatsuyoshi Takashima, President & CEO of Dentsu Inc.
