Abesamis, Demata and Welsh enter The Creative Guild of the Philippines’ Hall of Fame

Boracay – On the final night of the 2010 Kidlat Awards, The Creative Guild of the Philippines inducted Y&R’s Badong Abesamis, DM9 JaymeSyfu’s Eugene Demata and BBDO Guerrero/Proximity’s Simon Welsh into its Hall of Fame.

This brings up the number of the Hall of Fame creatives to 10, including (in chronological order) Melvin Mangada, David Guerrero, Ompong Remigio, Richard Irvine, Dave Ferrer, Merlee Jayme and Joel Limchoc.

To be eligible, they must have won at least five Ads of the Year (including the  public service DIWA) and three metals for accredited international award shows like D&AD, Clio, Cannes Lions, ADFEST, MEDIA Spikes, New York Festivals, One Show, The Art Directors Club, and Communication Arts. They are nominated by member agencies of The Creative Guild and their qualifications, verified by the Creative Guild.

Abesamis is the Chief Creative Officer of Y&R Philippines, a post he has held only since last year. Previously, he was at McCann Erickson, Leo Burnett,  Ace Saatchi & Saatchi and a creative director at TBWASantiago Mangada Puno.

This art-based creative’s work has been recognized by ADFEST, New York Festivals, Spikes Asia, Asian Outdoor Advertising Awards and Promotion Marketing Awards.

EUGENE DEMATA

Demata is the ECD of DM9JaymeSyfu, an affiliate of DDB Worldwide. Before this, he was the creative director of Ace Saatchi & Saatchi.

As an art-based creative, he has won awards in Cannes, Clio, New York Festivals, London International Advertising Festivals, D&AD, Spikes, Adfest and One Show.

Eugene is also consistently in Campaign Brief Asia’s top creatives list and in MEDIA magazines 2009 Asia’s top 100 creatives .

He has been instrumental in winning Philippines first Cannes Media Lion and putting the agency in Campaign Brief Asia’s Top 5 most creative agencies in the Philippines in just 4 years of its operation.

Among the brands he has handled are Procter & Gamble, McDonald’s, Del Monte, Schering & Plough, Toyota, Mead Johnson, Johnson & Johnson, Jollibee, Smart, PLDT, Ayala and San Miguel.


SIMON WELSH

Welsh is ECD at BBDO Guerrero, which is currently rated one of the four best agencies in Asia by Media Magazine and in the Top 10 according to Campaign Brief’s The Work. Prior to coming to the Philippines he honed his skills for ten years in London at a number of agencies including HHCL (Campaign Magazine’s agency of the decade).
 
He began his career as a copywriter. His work for clients including Channel 4, Tango, FedEx, WWF and Childhope has been recognized by D&AD, Cannes, One Show and ADFEST. Among the creatives in BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines, he is also known for being an even-tempered leader who brings out the best in his people’s ideas.
 
He is ranked by Campaign Brief as one of the Top 50 Creatives in Asia.
