AD STARS 2011: Metals for BBDO Guerrero, Leo Burnett Manila and TBWA Santiago Mangada Puno

ASIA-PACIFIC – AUGUST 30, 2011 – The Philippines had a stellar year at AD STARS International Advertising Festival 2011 in Busan, South Korea. After the award presentations held over two consecutive nights, the country picked up a Gold Star, four Silver Stars and one Bronze Star, making this year the Philippines’ best showing yet. Last year, BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines and DM9 JaymeSyfu split two Silvers, a Bronze and a Merit.

BBDO Guerrero won the country’s first Gold Star with the "Carpenter" ad, in addition to a Silver for the "Laundry" version and another for the entire campaign, all for Bayer Saridon in the Pharmaceutical/Public Health& Safety category. The agency also took home Bronze for the "Singapore-Frankfurt" direct mailer for FedEx  in the Corporate/Institution/Industry category.

  

 


"Sementeryo"

 

TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno, which led the Philippine finalist tally, did not go empty-handed. Its film "Sementeryo (Cemetery)" for the Cinemanila International Film Festival won a Silver Star in the Entertainment category.

"Mudfish"

Leo Burnett Manila’s "Mudfish" for WWF was awarded a Silver Star in the Craft/Retouching category.

Brandie Tan, Executive Creative Director at BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines, attended the festival as a member of the final jury. Dave Ferrer, Executive Creative Director of JWT, was part of the online jury.

The Philippines was the seventh top sending country to AD STARS this year with 259 total entries. Of these, 115 of were initially shortlisted to move on to the final judging, bringing the country second only to after Thailand in the number of finalists in the Professional division.

Other Philippine agencies in the shortlist were Bates 141, DDB Philippines, DM9 JaymeSyfu and Y&R Philippines.

The three-day festival, now on its fourth year, drew over 7,000 entries from 46 countries.
