New Speakers, new grub

Joining this year’s AdCon 22 is joeri Van den Bergh, co-author of  How Cool Brands Stay Hot. Van den Bergh brings to the event the spice on the ice, speaking to the “most savvy and advertising generation ever” – the new wave of creatives. Joeri will be joining the likes of another branding legend, the multi-metal winning Leo Burnett CCO Mark Tuttsel who fits in a day at AdCon to his busy schedule.

The country’s top broadsheet, The Philippine STAR, also steps in to host an unforgettable luncheon. Having recently celebrated its 25th year anniversary with the theme 25 Years of Truth, The STAR is a long-standing ad congress supporter and sponsor. This year, it plans an even bigger and better lunch special for AdCongress22 on November 18, 2011, Friday. What’s even more mouth-watering are the star-studded entertainment numbers, an action-packed program, and of course, The STAR’s famous raffle draws.

Amazing Quest and the Race to Araw

It’s in, it’s out.  Ultimately, it is in.  Uncertainty definitely packs the into the Amazing Quest!  A project of the Sports and Special Events Committee under UPMG-Business Mirror’s Ricky Alegre, the event promises to be just as it is called.  Going through obstacles from Manila to the CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC), Amazing Quest pits teams and talents, wits and wackiness among the contestants.

Created to put AdCongress22 delegates in the right mood, Amazing Quest is from November 14 to 16 only.  From www.adcongress.com.ph, all fun-loving delegates can register and download the Task Map.  With the Task Map in hand, Racers have a choice of going by public bus or private car. The train, fancy as it is, just does not cut it yet.

The pit-stop motivated competition is for the adventurous, as well as the young at heart.  Racers have an array of pit-stops that spells roadtrip regulars: fastfood joints, convenience stores and gas stations.  While at it, count how many Petrons, McDonald’s and 7-11s dot the road to CamSur.  Just for the fun of it!

Meanwhile, the Araw awards have gone digital and agency’s can now sumbit entries rigth at the comfort of their swivel chairs (and deadliness). Up for grabs are the usual  metals, including Platinum, for creativity and effectivenes categories for The Araw, The Araw Media and The Araw Craft. Special Araws will also be awarded for Advertiser, Agency, Media Agency and Production House.  Early Bird deadline is September 2 at 6pm.  Final deadline is September 12, and by 6pm

Trading In

With the food and chit-chat in place, the Trade Exhibit also takes part of the action by providing venue for brands to reach its target market. All eyes will surely be on the latest gadgets, gizmos, and gimmicks as competing brands try to outshine each other in one of the festival’s most anticipated marketing displays.

Growing in size and grandeur with each event, the Trade Exhibit packs the action to the Ad Congress. Special tents will also be built to house the trademark and highlight of the event. Consider it the advertising congress mall, circus, or plain hang-out – the Trade Exhibit brings ka-ching into the event. Says, ASAP’s Egay Navalta, Trade Exhibit Sub-committee Chair, “the Ad Congress is not the same without the Trade Exhibit.  It is part and parcel of the grandness of this event.”
