ADFEST 2010 Fabulous Four new directors named

Every year, ADFEST invites young directors from the region who have not directed more than six films in their careers.  Dubbed the Fabulous Four, these directors are tasked to create a short film script based on a specific theme.   Like ADFEST 2010, the Fabulous Four theme is “REFRESH”. 

A total of 32 directors from around the Asia Pacific submitted scripts to this year’s Fabulous Four, but only four directors made the final cut.  The judges, whose identities were kept anonymous, are some of the region’s most influential and respected producers and creative directors.

Ant McPhail, Director, Luscious International, Sydney.   Sydney director Ant McPhail initially studied Photography and Design before majoring in Digital Production & Post Production. His video art has been displayed at the Art Gallery of NSW.

Pipat Siriruangsakul, Assistant Director at The Bandits, Bangkok.  In Bangkok, Pipat Siriruangsakul has a tremendous love for Asian culture, literature, photography, film, and music. He is an Assistant Director at The Bandits production house in Bangkok.

Rahul Md. Alindib Akbar, www.alindib.com, Director, Dhaka. Rahul Alindib Akbar is from Bangladesh. He began his career as an advertising creative, and was a participant in Young Lotus 2007 and 2008 at ADFEST, where he discovered his passion for film direction.  

Yas Shimizu, Production Manager/Assistant Director, Camp KAZ Productions, Tokyo. In Tokyo, Yas Shimizu is an aspiring director who works for for Camp KAZ Productions, led by Kazuyoshi Hayakawa, one of the most respected commercial directors in Japan.

ADFEST 2010 takes place in Thailand from March 18 to 20, 2010.
