ADFEST ‘Fabulous Four’ short films submitted to LA Shorts Fest

ASIA-PACIFIC – BANGKOK, THAILAND, JANUARY 27, 2011 – For the first time, ADFEST will submit not only all of the 2011’s four ‘Fabulous Four’ short films, but also 2010’s to compete at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, the world’s biggest short film festival.

This will give the eight Fabulous Four directors even bigger exposure to the world’s most influential production executives, potentially skyrocketing their careers overnight.

“By submitting the Fabulous Four films to the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, we’re giving young directors the chance to shine on a world stage,” says ADFEST President Jimmy Lam.

The Los Angeles International Short Film Festival (also known as ‘LA Shorts Fest’) is the largest short film festival in the world accredited by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences. More than 30 short films screened at LA Shorts Festival were later nominated for Academy Awards, and 11 short films at LA Shorts Festival have won Oscars.

“We receive thousands of film submissions to LA Shorts Fest each year. The selection process is very competitive, so this is a great opportunity for ADFEST’s Fabulous Four to find an audience with the film industry’s top executives. But keep in mind that although the Fab Four films will be submitted to LA Shorts Fest for the first time this year, selection into the festival is not guaranteed!” says Bob Arentz, who founded the festival in 1997.

This year’s LA Shorts Fest takes place on July 22-30, 2011. Despite receiving thousands of entries, only the best short films are selected to screen every year, with more than 250 film screenings per annual festival.

Says Jimmy: “To provide the Fabulous Four directors with more chance to shine, we already have an arrangement with Young Director Awards in Europe. Every year, ADFEST submits the ‘Fabulous Four’ short films to compete in their short film category. Now, thanks to our partnership with LA Shorts Fest, the Fabulous Four have the chance to make their names heard in Hollywood.”
