Araw Awards: “Ano sa tingin mo?” and other revelations

At the start of the awards ceremony, PAC Overall Chairperson Margot Torres announced that as promised, all ticket sales to the Araw Awards night would be donated to the Baguio chapter of the Red Cross. A total of 898 tickets were sold, resulting in a donation of PhP 1.374 million to charity.

Baguio City was the original host city of the 21st AdCon, until the damage Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng forced organizers to move the event to Subic Bay Freeport.

Highlights of the evening also included the traditional parade of agencies. Following the theme “Look at the Bright Side”, participants were dressed as emoticons, mascots, plush toys and more. TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno won Best Costume for dressing their participants as a wedding entourage that had waded through the floodwaters.

But perhaps most awaited was the reveal of the mystery posed by the AdCon TVC campaign, “Ano sa tingin mo?” The audience was treated to a 2-part operetta by the Philippine Educational Theater Association, featuring Broadway and West End veterans Robert Sena as the magician and Isay Alvarez as the assistant.
