Creative Guild completes 2010 Kidlat Awards jury

The Creative Guild of the Philippine announced the rest of the judges for the 2010 Creative Guild Awards “Pure Creativity”.  Held at Boracay from April 12-14, the awards is a yearly sojourn from the hectic pace of the Metro, where Philippine advertising seeks refuge and recreation, and re-aligns with their contemporaries, locally and globally. 

Judges will choose the best in Print, TV, Radio, Interactive, Outdoor, Direct, Creative Media, Design, Integrated Campaign and the new What The? category.  This year, the Creative Guild will also award the Ads of the Decade.

Previously named were Tay Guan Hin, Regional Executive Creative Director of JWT Asia and Marcus Rebeschini, Chief Creative Officer of Y&R Asia. Taking the place of Eugene Chiong is Juggi Ramakrishnan.

Juggi has consistently stayed at the top of Campaign Brief Asia’s creative rankings for over a decade, and is currently ranked as the 9th most awarded creative in Asia. Juggi’s work is regularly seen at Cannes, D&AD, The One Show, Communication Arts, Clio, Australian Award, Asia Pacific Adfest and Media Spikes. He has been in the writing section of D&AD three times in the last 10 years, and was awarded a Silver Pencil in 2006.

The Philippine judges include:

Peter Acuña – A longtime "McCannite", Peter  Acuña has proven that big can be sexy as market dominance of some of the accounts he has handled–Coca-Cola, Nestle, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson—usually came with creative awards. With major business wins over the past couple of years—Bank of the Philippine Islands’ entire business being the most recent–he continues to savor the enormity of any challenge.

Lawin Bulatao – Lawin started in J. Walter Thompson, Indio, Basic and BBDO. But he made his mark in DentsuIndio as executive creative director and later, as creative director in Publicis JimenezBasic. His work in Digital and Radio earned him metals and the reassurance that he was "not the most unwinning creative director". His most recent wins include Gold and Silver at the 2009 Araw Awards for Canon and Honda.

Merlee Cruz-Jayme is Chairman and Chief Creative Officer at DM9 JaymeSyfu.  Before that, she was the Executive Creative Director of BBDO Guerrero and the Vice President/ Executive Creative Director of Ace Saatchi & Saatchi.

Since starting DM9 JaymeSyfu 4 years ago, an affiliate of DDB Worldwide, she has helped win the McDonald’s business for DDB Philippines. Her small shop has also been blessed with the country’s successful brands like the biggest telecommunications company SMART and PLDT, DelMonte, Belo, Vistaland and Mini Cooper.

Sheila Dela Cuesta is Leo Burnett creative director who won for the country its first Gold at ADFEST for McDonald’s "Karen".  Dela Cuesta returned to the Philippines after four years in Leo Burnett Singapore.  She is known for producing effective and award-winning work.

Manny Del Rosario started his advertising career sometime in the 1990s after a mind-numbing stint in publishing. He has worked for BBDO Guerrero, Ogilvy and is now Creative Partner for Rocket Science Manila. Awards include Cannes Lions, One Show, Communication Arts, Media Spikes, ADFEST, Araw Awards and yes, Creative Guild Ad of the Year.

Joey Ong started his career almost a decade ago in what used to be J. Walter Thompson. Straight out of college, from the University of Asia and the Pacific, Joey entered the industry as a Visualizer for more than three years. He won his first “ad of the month” within six months of his then budding advertising life.  He moved back to his birth home JWT, where he won several international awards: ADFEST, Clio, Cannes Lions, Spikes, The One Show and a D&AD in the book merit. Presently, Joey Ong is at the creative helm of Bates141 Manila, as the youngest Executive Creative Director in the industry.

Andrew Petch is Executive Creative Director for Ace Saatchi & Saatchi.  His works for the local company include the Vespa account which won a number of awards at the 2009 Araw Awards. Petch was the lead creative for Sony Ericsson for Saatchi & Saatchi London.  While in the Singapore office, Petch worked on the campaign of ESPNSTAR Sports.   His agency stints include Publicis London and BMF Sydney. 

Leigh Reyes is the Executive Creative Director of Lowe Manila. She won the Philippines’ first Gold Clio and has been a jury member for ADFEST, LIAA and Cannes Lions.  She’s at leighreyes.com/blog and twitter.com/leighpod.

Jaime F.  Santiago is a Managing Partner at TBWASantiago Mangada Puno.  He is the 2007 Awardee of the Creative Guild’s Lifetime Achievement.

Santiago’s TBWASantiago Mangada Puno was proclaimed Agency of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2009.  He was Joint CEO and Head of Creative of Santiago & Puno Advertising from October 1995 – May 2000.  He established his own agency on 2 October 1995, and tied up with Foote, Cone & Belding (FCB), the 8th largest global Agency network, on 26 July 1996.

Brandie Tan – BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines head of Art  As Creative Director of JWT, Tan was part of the team that won for the country its first Gold at the Cannes Lions in 2008.  Tan was joint Executive Creative Director of Lowe Vietnam.
