Dy Tioco starts 2010 as STAR Group of Companies VP for Advertising

It’s 2010, and for an industry figure, it starts with a promotion.  Lucien C. Dy Tioco enters the year as the STAR Group of Publications Group VP for Advertising effective January 2010.

Previously the VP for advertising for the Philippine Star, the promotion puts Dy Tioco on top of advertising and marketing of Pilipino Star Ngayon and Pang-Masa (in addition to the Philippine Star), for Metro Manila STAR Group titles, as well as The Freeman and Banat News, both titles based in Cebu

Dy Tioco’s steady rise in the STAR Group did not start in advertising, instead it was through media marketing research.  Two years after joining The STAR Group, he was in advertising sales as account manager in 1989.  He was eventually named VP for Advertising in 2005.

For the year 2006, the STAR Group credits Dy Tioco as “instrumental in helping win the prestigious Marketing Company of the Year,” as well as “steering the paper to leadership in print advertising since 2006.”

“I am privileged and excited to further enlarge the STAR Group’s current might and take it to a greater significance in the new media landscape,” says the versatile Dy Tioco.

Dy Tioco is very active in the industry, primarily with the United Print Media Group (UPMG), where he is the Vice-president of the 2010 Board of Directors.  Since 2005, he has been consistently in the Board of Directors of the Advertising Board of the Philippines (AdBoard).

In the last Advertising Congress, Dy Tioco wowed the audience with his performances, one of which was the song-and-dance number to introduce Brand Aid: Project AHON.
