The night run is expected to draw at least 5,000 runners across three race categories: 15K, 10K, and the 3K costume run. “We’re kicking off (the) Halloween weekend by asking participants to come in costume,” said Rod Nepomuceno, regional vice president of Crush Communications.

Meanwhile, race director Edward Kho clarified the race’s technical details, including the race routes, vehicle parking, and baggage deposit. Kho also emphasized that “anything other than the normal running outfit” shall be considered a costume. A mask or a headdress, in particular, will already qualify a runner for the Best in Costume contest, the winner of which will receive a PHP10,000 cash prize. Cash prizes also await the top three runners of each category from PHP3,000 to PHP7,000. The top 500 finishers of the 5K and 10K runs will also receive an adobo run Finisher’s Medal.

Runners will also be treated to an after-party, with live music, free-flowing beer, bazaars, and a fireworks display to cap off the night.

Bringing heart to the fun activity, adobo Run After Dark teamed up with its beneficiary MyShelter Foundation, whose project “Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light)” has already installed 12,000 solar “bottle bulbs” in more than 10,000 underprivileged homes in the country. Illac Diaz, who heads the non-profit group, presented the foundation’s advocacy and goals, including lighting up a million homes in the Philippines by 2012.

The run will be held on October 29 at Aseana City (near SM Mall of Asia), with gun start times of 8:00pm (3K), 8:20pm (5k), and 9:00pm (15k). Registration is until October 23 through www.adoborun.runningmate.ph or via manual registration at Runnr Trinoma, Toby’s EDSA Shangri-La Mall, and ROX Global City. The PHP750.00 registration fee includes a complete race kit (singlet, race bib, Runningmate timing chip, safety pins, route map, race info sheet, and two glow-in-the-dark sticks), finisher’s certificate, loot bag, and party stub.
