FOX and Selecta Gold Series usher in New Year with dessert competition

PHILIPPINES, JANUARY 2011 – Fox International Channels (FIC) and Selecta Golden Series greeted the New Year with a unique ice cream dessert-making competition among resident chefs from Boracay’s famous restaurants and hotels.

The event, dubbed "Cool Decadence: An Epic Boracay Indulgence", was held at the Epic Bar. FIC Philippines Territory Director Jude Turcuato and Selecta Brand Manager JC Caro welcomed more than 300 vacationers, including celebrities, who came to see the coolest showdown to hit the island.

The chefs were given 15 minutes to prepare “Island Dessert” creations using Selecta Gold Series flavors. Chef Christine San Diego of Ti Braz created a strawberry crepe using Berry Strawberry while Villa de Oro’s chef Alvin Brillo came up with a sumptuous mango crepe with chocolate truffle from Chocolate Truffles.

The Tides’ chef Jon Tuala concocted an ice cream tower of mango and caramelized almond out of Vanilla Almond while Courtyard Bistro’s chef Salvador Mupra came up with a fruity ice cream caramel cake out of Hazelnut Brownie.

Summit Media Philippines’ Frances Haw, TV personality and certified “ice cream-holic” Rovilson Fernandez, and blogger Carlos Canlas of foodiemanila.com judged the cool dessert creations based on taste, presentation, and use of Selecta Gold Series flavors.
