M&C Saatchi to help keep Hong Kong elections clean

ASIA-PACIFIC – HONG KONG, AUGUST 2011 – Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has hired M&C Saatchi to help them keep the territory’s elections clean – starting with the District Elections scheduled for November 2011.

M&C Saatchi won the assignment after ICAC reviewed recommendations from half a dozen rival agencies, and will launch a new campaign this month, in order to maintain Hong Kong’s culture of clean elections.

Chris Jaques, CEO of M&C Saatchi, said: “This is not just an exciting win – it’s an important one. Because Hong Kong’s current strength and its future potential are both built on the principle of clean government. This will be even more critical in the years ahead, as we navigate the path towards universal suffrage. We are proud and excited to play our part in this important principle, and this important process.”

Bernard Chan, Senior Creative Director at M&C Saatchi, who led the pitch, said: “It was a creative shoot-out more than anything, as the strategy was very well-defined from the get-go. In the end, we won the assignment with a bang-on creative insight amplified by a very dramatic creative idea. It was a fine example of M&C Saatchi’s guiding principle, Brutal Simplicity of Thought.”
