GLOBAL, JANUARY 2011 – McCann Worldgroup’s "Global Transformation Pulse: 13 Transformational Cities" released this month aimed to know five cities other than one’s own that around 120 marketing experts and the agency’s planners believed to have the most influence in transforming the lives of people in their country. Over 900 nominations were received. From these, the responses were qualitatively examined. The cities were then divided into three groups of 13: the most commonly selected cities, the “next 13” with a strong regional following or claims to transformational leadership, and the "surprising 13”, or the unexpected answers.
The report is authored by Dave McCaughan, regional planning director for Asia Pacific, and Sakura Irie, McCann Singapore senior planner, with assistance from a review committee from various McCann offices worldwide: Matt Hermann (San Francisco), Laura Simpson (London), Josofat Solis (Panama), and Neeraj Mehra (Singapore).
The Asia Pacific cities in the list are Melbourne, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Mumbai, New Delhi, Dhaka, Bali, Jakarta, Singapore, and Seoul.
McCann PULSE is the agency’s proprietary program of understanding the what, why and how of people’s lives around the world. It was founded in 1995 in Thailand and has been active in over 50 countries.
