Singapore – In a development that does not make any of the usual suspects happy, the top honor at the Media Agency of the Year Awards 2009–the Asia Network of the Year–was shared by Isobar, a young digital network, and by media powerhouse Carat. Both networks belong to the Aegis Group.
Established in 2003, Aegis created Isobar, a specialist division to build a global, full service digital marketing network. It celebrates global diversity, and is built on the values of creativity, innovation and agility.
Adobo publisher and editor-in-chief, Angel Guerrero, reported that all the trophies were spread across offices and networks, as they were handed out by Media Asia magazine in the seven-star St. Regis Hotel in Singapore this evening. This 16th edition of Media’s AOY revolved around the theme of Mad Men.
Asia’s Creative Agency of the Year went to BBH Asia – China, Singapore, India. McCann Healthcare won the Asia Specialist Agency of the Year, and Asia Digital Agency of the Year went to Tribal DDB Asia Pacific.
Among the individual categories, Spencer Wong of McCann Worldgroup Hong Kong was named Creative of the Year, while Philip Talbot of ZenithOptimedia was voted Regional Agency Head of the Year.
Euro RSCG Singapore came out on top as Southeast Asia Office of the Year. Ogilvy & Mather is Office of the Year for North Asia. Similar honors for Australia and New Zealand region when to DDB Melbourne.
In the newest category, Asia Mid-size Agency of the Year, Iris Nation Asia Pacific was its first ever recipient.
The awards show also paid tribute to Procter & Gamble’s Deb Henrietta as Client Marketer of the Year and AirAsia as Brand of the Year.
Organized by Media Asia, the Agency of the Year competition recognizes inspired leadership, management excellence, outstanding business performance and overall achievements in the Asia-Pacific advertising and communications industry.
