New ABS-CBN executives from advertising industry, J. Romero’s Mercado and DDB Media’s Salud join network giant

Next to flit from advertising to broadcast media, industry executives Antonio Miguel Mercado and Miko Pablo Salud (pictured) join ABS-CBN after their appointments as the new Sales and Marketing heads effective 2010.

Prior to joining ABS-CBN, Mercado was Managing Director of J. Romero and Associates since 2008.  He is now VP-Head of Program Marketing tasked to oversee and handle the Program Marketing requirements across all network platforms.

His extensive experience includes regional work as the Regional Business Director, General Manager, Client Management Director, and Regional Account Director of Publicis Sanoh Lab Asia Pacific, Publicis Malaysia, and Publicis Thailand respectively.

Salud, on the other hand, takes on a new role as the Customer Development Group News Head.  Salud has 21 years of experience largely from advertising, Media management, and client management functions. He was VP-Business Unit Director at DDB Media before joining the network.

On the opportunities of joining ABS-CBN, Salud says, “There’s a continuous learning we crave for.  And to expand our knowledge and wisdom, we have to go beyond the business we are in.  Staying in the agency side of the business for a long time may give us the reason to be complacent.  This is one way of limiting creativity in all aspects which the industry cannot afford.
