Number of Spikes Asia confirmed attendees up; UA&P to send 45-strong delegation

PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 8, 2010 – Close to 1,000 delegates have confirmed their attendance at the Spikes Asia Festival on September 19 to 20, 2010 in Singapore. As of last week, the Philippines had 83 attendees, according to Spikes Asia and Cannes Lions Chairman Terry Savage. Over half of these are students from the University of Asia & the Pacific’s Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) program.

According to Dr. Jerry Kliatchko, dean of the UA&P School of Communication, he and Vice Dean Dr. Francine Calero-Racho will accompany 43 students from the IMC program. The trip was offered as an optional tour for graduating students, with the expenses to be covered in full by the students themselves.

"Attending Spikes is in line with the UA&P School of Communication’s strategic thrust of internationalization of our IMC program. Exposing our students to international conferences gives them an opportunity to learn from experts in our industry from around the globe, provides a global perspective on how marketing communications is coping with challenges facing today’s highly competitive business environment, and exposes our students to the job market in the region and elsewhere in the world," said Dr. Kliatchko.

Aside from the advertising festival, the UA&P group will have a get-together with IMC alumni based in Singapore, as well as company visits to the offices of Dentsu and Unilever.
