The International Coastal Clean-up sweeps Anilao

PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 15, 2010 – On the 25th anniversary of the International Coastal Cleanup, an activity entitled “Clean Planet” will be held on September 25, 2010 at the Planet Dive Resort, Anilao, Batangas.

The International Coastal Cleanup is an annual global volunteer movement dedicated to clean coastlines, rivers, and lakes. Every year in September, more than half a million people in more than 100 countries remove millions of pounds of trash from beaches and waterways.  By cleaning up the coastlines, volunteers are doing their part to help make our coastline more resilient to the harmful effect of climate change, pollution, over fishing and damaged marine habitat. The event increases the general public’s awareness to the fact that every coastline plays a crucial role in our lives and the various ways people can help protect it.

This year’s coastal cleanup activity entitled “Clean Planet” will be held on 25 September 2010 at the Planet Dive Resort, Anilao, Batangas.  Planet Dive Resort has been an active participant of International Coastal Cleanup for the last 11 years. The resort usually attracts 100 to 200 volunteer divers and non-divers during this activity.
