Among the Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh and Fight Masters: Silat were co-produced by the National Geographic Channel and the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS), while Womb of the World was produced in a partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). All of the awarded programs underscore FIC’s successful model of deploying local television content that is of interest to the markets in which they are produced and to a global audience with the company’s long-standing partners in multiple countries.   The award-winning programmes are among 30 hours that National Geographic Channel has produced locally in Asia in 2010.

“The awards presented to Among the Great Apes with Michelle Yeoh and Fight Masters: Silat, not only demonstrate the value of working with world-class factual content producers like the National Geographic Channel but also point to the significant development in Malaysian TV productions’ ability to create entertaining yet educational programs,” said Encik Mohd Mahyidin Mustakim, Director-General, National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS).

“Our partnership with National Geographic Channels International has enabled us to continue developing Singapore’s media industry, taking our production quality to a higher level,” said Angeline Poh, Director, Infocomms and Media, Singapore Economic Development Board. “We are honored that Womb of the World has received this award.”

The awards reflect National Geographic’s continued commitment to providing viewers throughout Asia with leading programming that meets local audiences’ needs. “We have embarked on an aggressive initiative – "Asia to the World", to produce local documentaries across markets with our partners and these awards are a testimony to the quality and appeal of our content,” said Choy Lin Mok, Director of Regional Production and Supervising Producer, National Geographic Channels International.
