Top companies and agencies vie for the highest honors at the 2017 iABC Philippine Quill Awards

MANILA – Anticipation is set to reach a new high with the announcement of frontrunners for the top honors at the 15th Philippine Quill Awards and 5thStudent Quill Awards, the country’s highest and most comprehensive awards in business communication. The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines has announced the final nominees for the Top Awards as well as the Company, Agency, and School of the Year ahead of the awards night on  July 5.

The nominees for the Top Award in the Communication Management, which includes strategic communication planning and execution of internal, external, and integrated programs, are Aboitiz Group (Let’s build a #WeatherWiser nation), ABS-CBN Corporation (Ipanalo Ang Pamilyang Pilipino: Championing The Filipino Family in the 2016 Philippine National Elections) ABS-CBN Corporation (TFC’s Overseas Voting Campaign #Vote4ASelfieWorthyPH), Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (2016 METROBANK ART) and  Pru Life UK (20th Anniversary Customer Engagement Campaign).

Competing for the Top Award in the Communication Skills division, which covers technical skills such as writing, design, and multimedia production showcased in marketing and communication campaigns, are ABS-CBN Corporation (#Halalan2016 Digital Project), adobo magazine / Sanserif Inc (adobo: Project PASS1ON 2016), Habitat for Humanity Philippines (The Annual Report Made by Kids), PLDT ALPHA (HOT JOE Magazine: Volumes: 24,25,26,27,28) and Stratworks, Inc. (#ToughestJob2016: What does the Philippine President Do?).

Aiming to bag the Top Award in Communication Research, which recognizes the importance of research and measurement as a foundation for strategic communication work, are PageOne Media (Goodbye Dumi, Hello Healthy: Building Healthier Zero-Open Defecation Communities), and Shell Companies in the Philippines (Shell sustains involvement and engagement through elevated communications).

Students from universities and colleges across the country are also competing in the Philippine Student Quill Awards, the junior version of the Philippine Quill which honors outstanding communication work by students. Nominees for the Top Award for Communication Management are De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (AD ASTRA 2017: Dimensions and Komikwento), and University of Santo Tomas (Botomasino: A Special Coverage of the UST Student Council Elections, CAFE CHURRoar IMC Campaign and Passion For Process (PFP): An Interactive Exhibit).

While Communication Skills Top Award nominees are Bataan Peninsula State University (1588: The Guilds Literary Folio 2015-2016), De La Salle University (Reopening wounds: The Martial Law victims and the families left behind) and University of Santo Tomas (8Waves Waterpark, Balik USTe 2016 and The Varsitarian: The Official Student Publication of the University of Santo Tomas).

The Top Award is given to entries with the highest score among Excellence Awardees per division. Organizations, agencies, and schools with the most Excellence Awards are also awarded with Company, Agency, and School of the Year.

The nominees for Company of the Year are ABS-CBN Corporation, Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), Maynilad Water Services, Shell Companies in the Philippines, and Smart Communications, Inc.

Battling to be Agency of the Year are Dentsu | Jayme Syfu, Ogilvy/ Pulse Communications, PageOne Media, Ripple8 and Stratworks, Inc.

Vying for School of the Year, on the other hand, are Angelicum College, Bataan Peninsula State University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran Manila, De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, and University of Santo Tomas.

For the first time, IABC Philippines will be honoring the Top 3 Schools and Agencies of the Year.

IABC Philippines is the first chapter outside North America of the international IABC, a global network of around 15,500 business communicators in 80 countries. The IABC presents the Gold Quill Awards, considered as the global standard in business communication.
