X marks the spot: the tenth adobo Cup is up for grabs!

MANILA – It’s that time of the year once more. When kicks are thrown and balls fly through the air. As different creative agencies and media partners don their unique colors and make their way to the pitch, the tenth adobo Cup is up for grabs.

On June 10, Saturday, football takes center stage for the annual one-day tournament that sees lovers of “the beautiful game” competing for the prestigious Dobo Trophy. This year, the Emperador Stadium at McKinley Hill will serve as the venue for the adobo Cup as a record 22 teams will be putting on their boots and shooting for the goals.

The 22 teams will be:

  17. Forza Havas

  22. PJB Warriors

The 2016 adobo Cup saw Vitamin B FC prevail over Go Motion FC via penalty kicks to earn the right to be called adobo Cup Champions. Individual award winners included Gary Garduce of ABS-CBN as Best Defender, Jerico Divinagracia of Go Motion named as Best Goalkeeper and the pair of Alice dela Pena of Revolver and Suki Gomez of Group M earning Best Female Player honors. The Best Striker of the tournament went to Saatchi’s Kim David while the Best Midfielder was Go Motion’s Sidney Magbano. Most Valuable Player honors went to Mikee Magtoto of champions Vitamin B.

For this 2017 adobo Cup, cool games have been added including special exhibitions for all-female competitors, a match for competitors 45-years-old and above (a.k.a. a seniors game) as well as special matches for kids. The winner of this year’s cup will receive a specially curated/customized freezer from one of the event sponsors, namely BBZ.

The tenth adobo Cup has Jollibee as a major sponsor, with minor sponsors in Pilipinas 911, Heineken, BBZ, and Premiere Water. The official sports drink will be Gatorade, while event partners are Executive Decisions, PhotoMan, and WYD.
