Philippine Daily Inquirer harnesses the power of INQSnap in its Inquirer Mobile app

MANILA, MAY 10 2013 – The Philippine Daily Inquirer has launched an updated version of its free Inquirer Mobile app, hot on the heels of fellow Philippine broadsheet the Philippine Star, which very recently released its mobile app showcasing LiveIt!, its augmented reality (AR) feature.

The Inquirer app showcases an AR feature known as “INQSnap”. INQSnap, a creation of Singaporean software-development firm Knorex, is fast gaining ground in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Key among its features is the fact that unlike AR software that requires to capture 100% of the AR trigger to function, INQSnap only requires approximately 30 percent to operate. The Inquirer, which possesses exclusive rights to INQSnap usage in the Philippines, is working with content and applications expert MegaMobile in this regard.

INQSnap permits Inquirer readers to easily and rapidly launch digital content, including audio clips, documents including PDF files, video files such as TV news reports and movie trailers, photo galleries and zoomable maps, by pointing their iOS or Android smartphones or tablets at preselected AR triggers. Upon doing so, a set of logos – corresponding to the digital content that can be accessed – will appear. A reader can then elect to consume this content and/or even share it with his or her contacts on Facebook or Twitter.

Multimedia content that can be accessed by compatible devices using INQSnap will be released regularly beginning next week.
