MANILA, MAY 24, 2013 – American football stars Liz Gorman, Angela Rypien and Natalie Jahnke flew to Manila last month for the Philippine leg of the premiere of the 2013 Legends Football League on KIX.
During their stay here, the three star players—Gorman and Rypien from LA Temptation and Jahnke from Baltimore Charm—attended sit down interviews with various local publications and guested on top-rating radio show Boys Night Out.
Since it premiered in 2009, LFL has been touted as the "fastest growing pro sports league in the United States" by NBC Sports and has drawn record television ratings for its US broadcaster. The athletes, in their uniform tops and bottoms, as well as custom helmet and shoulder pads, have played to sold-out crowds across the US. The 12 US franchises include teams such as the 3-time champion Los Angeles Temptation, Las Vegas Sin, and Atlanta Steam.
“We are excited to bring America’s fastest growing sports league to Asia. The LFL is not about models attempting to play football. The LFL presents tough, sexy, and talented female athletes playing full-contact, American football," said Betty Tsui, vice president of programming for KIX and Thrill.
The 2013 LFL US season, which began airing April 28, continues to air Sundays at 10.30 pm on KIX (Channel 63 on Skycable; channel 10 on Globe Destiny Cable, channel 220 on Cable Link).
