MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Top independent creative agency GIGIL continues to cement the Philippines’ reputation on the global advertising stage, emerging as the only Filipino agency to win at both the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and the D&AD Awards in 2025.
At Cannes, long regarded as the “Oscars of Advertising” GIGIL brought home two Bronze Lions in the Film category, for its inventive campaigns: “Steal” for Mandaue Foam Home Store and “Miracle” for RC Cola. This dual win marks a historic moment, as it is the first time a Philippine agency has won two Film Lions for two different clients in the same year.
These accolades represent not only exceptional creative execution, but also underscore the agency’s cultural relevance and storytelling power. The Cannes Lions, the industry’s most prestigious stage, celebrates campaigns that shift paradigms and resonate deeply with global audiences, a space GIGIL has now occupied for four out of the past five years.
Further adding to its international acclaim, GIGIL also received three D&AD Pencils – an honor revered for its notoriously high creative standards. The “Steal” campaign earned Graphite and Wood Pencils, while “Miracle” brought home a Wood Pencil, all in the Film category. These wins solidify GIGIL’s reputation as a creative force whose output meets the stringent standards of design and craft established by the London-based D&AD Awards since 1962.
“Winning a Lion at Cannes is a significant achievement, and to secure two in the same year, following our wins at D&AD, is something we are very proud of,” said Herbert Hernandez, Founding Partner and Chief Creative Officer at GIGIL. “We are honored to represent the Philippines on the global stage and showcase the calibre of Filipino creativity.”
Both campaigns for RC Cola and Mandaue Foam were created in collaboration with Arcade Film Factory’s director Marius Talampas.
