The Golden Drum Competition ushers in its 30th edition and announces call for entries

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In 2024, the International Festival of Creativity, Golden Drum, will celebrate its 30th anniversary. The festival that has over three decades celebrated and rewarded creative excellence in creative communications, advertising, and related fields is opening its competition for entries. The creative community will gather again to honor the best of the best in the field, listen and learn from the hottest experts in the business, and network from October 09-10 in Grand Hotel Bernardin, Portorož, Slovenia.

Golden Drum Competition is open for entries

Golden Drum opens a call for entries and admits all works aired, published, or implemented for the first time between August 22, 2023, and August 21, 2024.

Agencies, advertisers, clients, design/production houses, media companies, and other creatives from 42 countries are invited to enter their works until August 21, 2024, in six diverse sections: One-Channel Drum, Omni-Channel Drum, Craft Drum, Creative Media Excellence Drum, Creative Business Excellence Drum, and a special All Juries Section. The awards will be granted at the Golden Drum Awards Show held on October 10, 2024, in Portorož, Slovenia.

The Golden Drum Festival is enriching the competition by introducing a fresh B2B group in the Creative Business Excellence Section, offering businesses new opportunities to showcase their success in a fast-changing industry. Partnership with Little Black Book and AdForum extended; the festival remains on WARC Creative Rankings.

Golden Drum has yet again extended its partnership with Little Black Book – all Grand Prix-awarded work at the festival will be directly and free of charge entered into the competition of The Immortal Awards. The company with the winning entry will receive a complimentary membership to Little Black Book, providing entry to the Immortal Awards as well as the opportunity to take advantage of the full Little Black Book offer.

Golden Drum is also included in AdForum Business Creative Report, a unique ranking of the world’s most-awarded campaigns by industry sector.

Jury Presidents

We proudly present the presidents leading the Golden Drum juries:

One-Channel Drum Jury President | Guy Wieynk, Global Chief Executive Officer of AnalogFolk Group (AFG), UK

Guy has in-depth experience scaling future-focused agencies and helping brands leverage digital channels and technology to deliver tangible results. He ran Publicis Worldwide UK and Western Europe as CEO and he held numerous roles over his 17-year tenure at AKQA.

“As this year’s Jury President for the section, I’m delighted to seek out and celebrate work that harnesses the unique strength of a singular medium to cut through the noise and truly resonate with the audience,” Guy commented.

Omni-Channel Drum Jury President | Kentaru Kimura, International Chief Creative Officer and Corporate Officer of Hakuhodo and Founder of Hakuhodo Kettle, Japan

Kentaro established Hakuhodo Kettle, a multiple award-winning creative boutique, to provide innovative integrated solutions to clients such as Toyota, Sony, Google, Suntory, etc. He has won over 150 awards including 10 Grand Prix prizes in several international award shows.

“The world has become more complex, the problems of society more difficult to solve to the extent that there is no longer a correct answer. We now have to create other solutions that push our abilities, that take us beyond our imagination,” the Omni-Channel Drum Jury President shared.

Craft Drum Jury President | Pum Lefebure, Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Design Army, USA

An award-winning creative director and savvy business leader, Pum has developed numerous international campaigns for high-profile clients such as Adobe, MORPHE, Netflix, Neenah Paper, etc. Born in Thailand, she brings a global sensibility to American design.

“What is craft? It means something completely different to every creative, but what they all have in common is passion. That’s something tangible that you want to feel when you witness a great piece of art or hear a piece of incredible music for the first time,” Pam remarked.

Creative Media Excellence Drum Jury President | Janet Levine, Global Head of Invention at Mindshare, USA

Janet has more than 17 years of experience in media and has led Nike’s global business crafting unmissable media and strategy. Janet has been quoted in AdWeek, Digiday, AdAge, NBC News & more and has judged industry awards such as The Smarties, AdWeek Media Plan of the Year, and Festival of Media.

She shared, “As an industry, we’ve never had a greater playground for creativity and opportunity for original thinking. The proliferation of technology and AI is unleashing new possibilities. And the world has become the greatest canvas filled with Digital and Physical experiences to drive greater connection.”

Creative Business Excellence Drum Jury President | Adam Kerj, Chief Creative Officer of Accenture Song Europe, Denmark

Adam brings more than 25 years of experience. He has won over 100+ major global advertising awards including Cannes Lions Grand Prix, D&AD, One Show, Webby´s, Clios, Effie’s, and Eurobest for global iconic brands like Ikea, Oreo, Pampers, Puma, Coca-Cola, Tide, Toyota, Ben & Jerrys.

“Creativity and human ingenuity are crucial for brands and businesses to thrive in a rapidly changing culture facing evolving technology. As President of the Creative Business Excellence jury, I am thrilled and honored to connect with a brilliant and diverse group of individuals to explore and celebrate work that engages the changing nature of brands,” Adam said.

Young Drummers Competition Jury President | Özge Güven, Design Director at TBWA\Istanbul, Turkey

An Istanbul-based Graphic Designer and Art Director with more than 10 years experience is also a member of Alliance Graphics Internationale (AGI) for 2022 and has won many awards such as D&AD, Golden Drum, Cannes Lions, etc. She was featured on the Women to Watch list in 2019.

“Young Drummers is a very important step in this sense, where the new generation that will nourish, grow, inspire today, and keep the industry of the future alive will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to the creators who will both educate them and work with them as colleagues,” Özge commented.

Golden Drum competition will be judged by 56 jury members from the region and beyond.

Entry and delegate fees

All entrants of the Golden Drum Festival can choose among the Super Early Bird, the Early Bird, and the Standard Entry fees for the competition.

For every 10 entries, the entrant gets one full delegate pass for attending the Golden Drum Festival (9-10 October 2024, Portorož, Slovenia) free of charge. For more about Entry Fees see here.

All Ukrainian entrants receive an 80% discount on entry fees.
