ABS-CBN introduces new afternoon shows

MANILA AUGUST 7, 2013-  ABS-CBN launched five News and Current Affairs TV programs including My Puhunan, Hiwaga, Mutya ng Masa, Bistado and Tapatan ni Tunying  yesterday.

 
Broadcast journalists Doris Bigornia, Karen Davila, Anthony Taberna, Julius Babao and Atom Araullo will host the new weekday afternoon block. The shows will be aired from Mondays to Fridays in the afternoon. “We want to continue our obligation to give service to the audience, to inspire the community and individuals”, said Ging Reyes, head of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs Division.
 
Stories of abuse, neglect and cruelty will be exposed every Monday afternoon. The program of Julius Babao, Bistado ,reinforced its public service component via its “sumbungan ng bayan” that people can approach them to tell cases of misconduct and exploitation. “We make sure that when somebody comes for help, we make sure that we help. More or less, on the first level of complaint, justice will be served”, he added.
 
Doris Bigornia will spread positive vibes in her first TV program Mutya ng Masa. The program is about Filipino’s interests, concerns and simple joys. “I talk to the masses and ask their problems, but I can’t solve their problems, I just ask them if what makes them happy”, Bigornia explained.
 
Struggling entrepreneurs will tune in to My Puhunan to improve their businesses by the stories of successful businessmen. Karen Davila said, “The program is to inspire the audience and more than that, give them hope.”
 
In Tapatan ni Tunying on Thursdays, Anthony Taberna will step forward in asking questions from the controversial and most talked about personalities in the Philippines. The program will talk about sensitive revelations of celebrities.
 
Hiwaga is a program that discovers the truth behind supernatural phenomena on Fridays. Atom Araullo explained, “Personally, I’d like to inject perspectives from other experts not only in the field of the paranormal but also doctors and scientists so that we’ll be able to demystify some things that are long held.”
