Jonathan Mackenzie is new head of Social Media for Omnicom

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE, SEPTEMBER 4, 2013 – Omnicom Media Group (OMG) Asia Pacific has appointed Jonathan Mackenzie as regional head of social media. Mackenzie was the former Director of Digital Strategy at OMD International.  

In this newly created regional role, Mackenzie will develop OMG’s social media offerings, which include strategy, integration, engagement and commerce leveraging advanced tools and technologies.
 
“This is an exciting opportunity and I am looking forward to leading a robust community of social media experts across the network. We are in a great place with a broad range of services already in place,” Mackenzie said. 
 
“Now it is a time for refining for better value in each area to provide our clients with a focused suite of solutions that deliver against their developing needs,” he added.
 
For the new position, Mackenzie will be based in Singapore and report to Lee Smith, CEO Platforms for Omnicom Media Group, APAC. 
 
“We have always been doing great work in the space, and we have been chasing a very wide service offering for a while now. We are getting much better focused in the right areas (especially integrated strategy) and there is nobody better suited to lead the next phase than Jo Mack,” said Smith.
 
Mackenzie’s appointment indicates the growth of social media’s reach in the region. According to an Omnicom news release, Asia-Pacific’s social network audience is triple the size of Latin America’s, numbering at 777 million people.
