Kayanihan: Awit ng Pinoy

MANILA, AUGUST 12, 2013 – World-class Filipino composer Ryan Cayabyab, Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, rapper Gloc-9 and four-piece band Itchyworms collaborated with the entire nation to create a song that speaks of hope and unity. . The finished piece is a product of 900 lyrics submissions from all over the world.  

“Kayanihan” was envisioned by foundation advertising agency-cooperator, Campaigns & Grey chaired by Ms. Yoly Villanueva Ong together with the Ad Foundation Special Projects Committee conceptualized an advocacy campaign, which anticipates an upshot in nation-wide positivity after realizing that many Filipinos are skeptical when it comes to the country’s progress.
 
The song banks on the innate resilience of Filipinos, and invokes the Bayanihan spirit unique to us. Filipinos dropped their two cents by responding to thought-provoking questions on the dedicated Facebook page. 
Procter and Gamble Philippines declared its support to the Advertising Foundation of the Philippines with a US$100,000 donation.
 
“The Kayanihan Project is timely in that positive economic and social developments in the country are creating a momentum for the realization of a Philippines we can all be proud of.  Procter and Gamble is proud to support this momentum, in line with our long term commitment to touching life and improving life,” said Clint Navales, country communications leader of P&G Philippines.
 
“Today is the best time to be Pinoy. Things are looking up, but we cannot be complacent.  The Kayanihan Project hopes to rouse national pride and mold a strong and upbeat national psyche to propel progress further.  We are grateful to Procter and Gamble for being the first to support this endeavor,” added Ruperto Nicdao, Advertising Foundation of the Philippines chairman.
