Spikes Asia changes the point system of special awards

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE, July 22, 2013- The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativty announced the changes of the contribution of points for the Agency of the Year and the Spikes Palm Awards.

After recently adding a new category, Creative Award for Print for students, Spikes is now pointing out the Agency of the Year Award. The award will be given to the agency that gets the highest number of points scored for shortlists and winning entries in all categories except Media. The deserving agency  needs to have entries in two or more categories regardless of the entrant company. The points of the shortlist will no longer be counted if they win the award.

The corresponding points for the winning ads are as follows: 10 points for a Grand Prix, 7 points for a Gold Spike, 5 points for a Silver Spike, 3 points for a Bronze Spike and 1 point for a shortlist position. However, an agency can only get a maximum of 10 points for shortlisted entries.

A production house will receive the Spikes Palm Award when it earned the most points in Film, Film Craft and in the Branded Content & Entertainment category, regardless of the entrant company . The same pointing system will be used as the Agency of the Year.

On the Media Agency of the Year Award, only a media agency will be eligible to win. Other agencies may pursue their entries to other Spikes Media award.  All the special awards, as well as the Advertiser of the Year which is selected by the organisers of Spikes Asia, will be presented to the winners on the final day of the Festival.

“As such we need to reflect the importance of all media channels in the points earned for the coveted Agency of the Year award to bring it in-line with the Independent Agency of the Year and Network of the Year awards points as well as showing the growing importance of Branded Content & Entertainment in creative communications and echo this in the Spikes Palm award.”

 Spikes Asia Festival is now on its 26th year and will be held at Suntec, Singapore. The Festival will take place this September 15 to 17, the submission of entries were extended until August 2.
